Breaking the Spine created this feature – ‘Waiting on’ Wednesday, where bloggers could gush about their most coveted upcoming release. Here’s mine:
FBI agents Jessica Harlow and John Shepherd have a past. The former lawyer and cocky Army ranger clashed during their training at Quantico, gladly going their separate ways after graduating from the Academy. Six years later, the last thing either of them expects is to run into each other again–assigned to work as partners in a high-profile undercover sting.
For both of them, being paired with a former rival couldn’t come at a worse time. Recently divorced from a Hollywood producer and looking for a fresh start, Jessica is eager to prove herself at her new field office. And John is just one case away from his dream assignment to the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team. In order to nail a corrupt Florida politician, they’ll have to find a way to work as a team–a task that becomes even trickier when they’re forced to hole up at a romantic, beachfront resort as part of the investigation. Suddenly, the heat behind their nonstop sparring threatens to make the job a whole lot more complicated. . .

Well, for one thing, I love everything I’ve read from this author. Her female characters have an air of sophistication and confidence about them, and they have their lives together for the most part. The only thing missing is that special someone to share it with. I also feel like her books don’t suffer from ‘drama for drama’s sake.’ The issues her characters face are tough issues a lot of couples deal with, making her stories feel real. I will be waiting on pins and needles for this one!
I’ve never read a Julie James book. Though I do like military/FBI romances. It sounds intriguing.

She’s a fantastic author. I can’t recommend her enough. And you know what would have been super-cool? If I’d spelled my tweet right today, and it hadn’t gone out to the twitterverse misspelled when she retweeted it. Can you say mortified? LOL

I was sure to check my post title, but since I adjusted my tweet and didn’t double check it, I was out of luck. 😦

I read one of her books a few years back and loved it. This one sounds good with the work rivalry and needing to partner on a case while being attracted.

I hope you have a chance to try her books. She is a fabulous author. I feel like falling apart heroines are a dime a dozen, and I’m OK with that. But it’s nice to know I can count on Julie James for a confident, successful one!

This sounds great. I appreciate when the “drama” is realistic. Romantic suspense is a genre I enjoy. Great pick.

Yes, I appreciate realistic drama, too. Far-fetched rarely works for me.
Thank you. 🙂
