When I was thinking about what I was going to name this blog, I knew I wanted it to be something that reflected hobbies I enjoy and things I love to talk about. Amazing I was only able to limit it to two, isn’t it? LOL Books was an obvious choice. I did solo blogging for almost a year with Gigi’s Book Blog, and then I spent two years blogging with the fabulous ladies at Badass Book Reviews. It was safe to say I’d be able to come up with enough content regarding books and reading.
Beauty took me a little while longer to settle on, and I’m not sure why. I love makeup, and eventually I’d love to include a makeup review or two every month on the blog. I’m a huge beauty vlogger fan, and I’ve spent hours watching makeup tutorials, hauls, and ’empties’ videos. Friends and I even did our own use it up among us last year. So after some thinking, I decided I could commit to two makeup posts a month. The plan, for now, is to limit beauty themed posts to the weekends.
So, Books & Beauty Are My Bag it was! And after many hours spent brainstorming with a fellow blogger, I decided in the interest of streamlining, I needed to shorten the name of my blog in our emails. I was shocked as heck and got a good laugh out of the fact that my blog name, when shortened to just its initials, was BaBAMB. And that was actually perfect, since Books & Beauty Are My Bag is way too long for social media handles. So you’ll find me out in the blog-sphere as BaBAMB, and in the case that that’s taken, I am Ba_BAMB. But my gravatar (below) is always the same.
Looking back, I picked the worst possible time to launch. My co-worker and I are a two person accounts payable department, and she had just left for maternity leave. As if that’s not bad enough, I work for an oil company, and as heating season kicks in, so does a larger work load. That means more work hours, which is by no means a complaint. I am always a glutton for overtime when it’s offered!
So getting on with the point of this post – what can you expect from BaBAMB in 2017? My regular posting days will be Monday – Thursday, and I am shooting for at least two reviews a week. This should be more manageable now that my co-worker is back and my normal audio-at-work schedule can resume. I am a huge fan of ‘Waiting on’ Wednesday, hosted by Breaking the Spine. One of my favorite parts of blogging is pimping my favorite authors, and I think this meme is the perfect way to do that. For my fourth post, I am working on something more chit-chatty. For the most part, I’d like it to be book-related. However, I’ve noticed that the blogs that intrigue me the most and the ones I am most excited to revisit usually include a personal post or two a month from a blogger. I love those posts, and I do have something like that in mind, but I have yet to decide if I can actually be that candid or if it’s too much for me. I also like The Sunday Post from Caffeinated Book Reviewer. While there’s some uniformity to it, it really allows a blogger to put their own touches on the post, and I love that idea. I’m eager to start participating in that at some point as well. I’ve been trying to brainstorm features for the blog (another favorite of mine when I visit other blogs,) and I’m excited to start posting them this month!
So, that’s what’s ahead, for now, on Books & Beauty Are My Bag, but I am always brainstorming and looking for new ideas. And suggestions are always welcome. If you’re interested in sharing, I’d love for you to let me know in the comments what makes you a return visitor to a blog. Different people enjoy different things, and I’d love to know what you find most interesting.
Thanks for visiting, and here’s to a fabulous 2017!
Yay! I can’t wait until you really dive in.

The best blogs to me are the ones that keep evolving and trying new things. I love seeing new features and behind the blogger type posts 😀
Can’t wait to see what you think up 🙂 And yay for your co-worker being back!

Thank you for the feedback! That is one of the things I enjoy about your blog – it’s book-based, but very eclectic and fresh.
Yes, my co-worker being back is a huge load off! 🙂 AND I get to see baby pictures every day, so double bonus.
