Breaking the Spine created this feature – “Waiting on” Wednesday, where bloggers could gush about their most coveted upcoming release. Here’s mine:
Navy men don’t come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can’t he handle one fifteen-year-old girl? His ex’s death left him a single dad overnight, and very unprepared. Though he can’t relate to an angsty teen, he can at least keep Maddie safe—until the day she disappears. Though Pete’s lacking in fatherly intuition, his instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie’s in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.
Romance writer Shayla Whitman never expected to be drawn into a real-world thriller—or to meet a hero who makes her pulse pound. Action on the page is one thing. Actually living it is another story. Shay’s not as bold as her heroines, but she’s a mother. She sees the panic in her new neighbor’s usually fearless blue eyes—and knows there’s no greater terror for a parent than having a child at risk. It’s an ordeal Shay won’t let Pete face alone. She’s no highly trained operative, but she’s smart, resourceful, and knows what makes teenagers tick.
Still, working alongside Pete has its own perils—like letting the heat between them rise out of control. Intimate emotions could mean dangerous, even deadly, consequences for their mission. No matter what, they must be on top of their game, and playing for keeps . . . or else Pete’s daughter may be gone for good.

Years ago, I devoured the first few books of the Troubleshooters series, and then anxiously awaited the release of Sam Starrett’s book (along with many other readers on the JMBB that I was frequenting at the time,) and devoured that. I kept on with this series for a bit, and then, for some unknown reason, I never picked it back up again. I really don’t know why, so I am jumping back on the Troubleshooters series with this installment, and then, I’m sure, I’ll go back and read the rest. From the beginning, I have loved this cast of characters and all they stand for. I cannot wait to be reacquainted with them!
Ooh, I’ve not read Brockman before but I like SEALs and I like the premise of Some Kind of Hero. I’ll see if my library carries the Troubleshooters series. 🙂

Brandee – you won’t regret it! But I do want to warn you that the first two books are mediocre. Hang in there until at least book three, because that is when the author really hits her stride with this series. And then with book four, you’ll never let her books go.
If you do decide to pick it up, I will be waiting to read your thoughts!

I’m so excited that you’re planning to read this! You know how I feel about these books. I also just have to laugh that this will be the first book that introduces you to Izzy, long after his story happened.

You and your Izzy. Good gravy. I feel like I met him in the earlier books, though.

No, he’s Troubleshooters 2.1. As the first group moves on, the new group of BUDs was trained and Izzy was in that group. He’s introduced around book 10ish.

What was the first book in TS 2.1?

They’re all the same series. It’s just that after so many years people like Sam, Wildcard, and Tom retire from being SEALS. That’s where the term ‘Troubleshooters’ eventually comes in, because Tom opens a privately owned firm called Troubleshooters Inc. In the actual SEAL team 16, new SEALS graduate training and are slowly worked into the story. Even now, in Some Kind of Hero it’s partially about a third newest group that’s graduating. The world is MASSIVE, and nobody else can pull it off the way Suzanne Brockmann can.

Ok. Forgive me. I didn’t read your whole post. I may have met him – I think book 10 was the last one I read.

Oh, then yeah you may have. He was a snarky/funny playful, Blake Riley type character.

I feel like I met him in a helicopter scene for some reason.

That sounds like him, lol. I guess we’ll see when you eventually do that reread.

OH WOW. I don’t think I’ve seen a cover with the man actually in uniform! At least, not a Navy SEAL. I am a fan. 😀 😀 😀 😀 This author is new to me! I’m definitely going to check out this book. I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!
Have a fabulous week. =)
Check out my WoW post!

Yes – covered abs. Who knew such a thing existed? LOL I probably sound like a broken record if you’ve read any of the other comments, but if you do decide to read this (and I highly recommend you do,) be sure to stick around until at least book three. That is when the author really hits her stride with the series!
I hope you have a fabulous week, too. 🙂

I haven’t heard of these! I definitely like the sound of this, though — and especially that cover; how can I say no to a man in uniform? 😉 Thanks for stopping by and for putting this on my radar!
