Book Blurb:

Looking back, none of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t dropped my phone in the toilet. I mean, I could’ve walked away from him if I’d had it with me.

Or maybe not.

Maybe it was all over the first time he saw me, and he would’ve found another way. Probably—if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Shade always gets what he wants, and apparently he wanted me.

Right from the first.

Shade’s Lady may be book #6.5 in Joanna Wylde’s Reapers MC series, but a reader should feel no qualms about starting here. This book, while related to the MC, doesn’t feature any of the characters from previous books in the series. It starts off with Mandy’s current boyfriend, Rebel, trading her to the president of the Reapers MC for what he was short in payment for a motorcycle. A real keeper, that Rebel! And the cherry to top that sweetness off – he doesn’t even tell her. Just sends her into the woods like Little Red Riding Hood. I know, right? But Shade’s had his eye on Mandy for a long time, and to say he’s frustrated that Mandy wasn’t in the know about this deal is an understatement. Shade and Mandy become fast friends bonding over superheroes, and from that, hilarious inner dialogue ensues.

This story was a lot of fun. I loved the dynamic between Mandy and Shade. Mandy may have been adamant she wasn’t on the hunt for a man, but Shade was just as determined to prove her wrong. He was very diligent in his pursuit, and it wasn’t long before Mandy decided that having sex with him wasn’t the worst thing in the world. I really liked Mandy’s character. Even though she’d been betrayed by a prior boyfriend and had gotten into trouble, she was walking the straight and narrow, she was a rock for her sister, and she didn’t have a chip on her shoulder. She was someone you could see yourself hanging out with. Shade was just as loyal, and Mandy got a front row seat to just how much. And I love a hero who may not be looking for love or long-term, but is open to it when it happens. As this is a Joanna Wylde book, obviously Mandy and Shade were hot together!

I really enjoyed Shade’s Lady. I do wish this had been a full-length book, though, because I think there is a lot more to the president of the Reapers MC than meets the eye. But, it’s like I always say – I’d rather be left wanting more than thinking ‘Thank God that’s over!’ If you’re a fan of the Reapers MC series, this isn’t to be missed. But fair warning – this book may make you want to skip breakfast for the rest of forever.

“You get to travel,” I told him, frustrated. “In a few weeks or a month or whatever you’ll leave this place. You’ll go see things and do things, and for some reason you seem to have enough money to live on without taking a shitty job waiting tables.”

Shade snorted. “Mandy, you don’t wanna know how I get my money.”

“Let me guess—it’s bad?” I asked, rolling my eyes. “I’m starting to think I’m genetically incapable of being attracted to a good guy. No offense.”

“None taken,” he replied, offering a slow smile. “I’m not a good man. But I’m not a man who’ll drag you down into the dirt, either. Or let you get caught up in club business. The Reapers have been around for a long time and we’re real good at taking care of our people. I’m not sayin’ I’ll never need a getaway car, but if I do, I sure as shit won’t trick my woman into driving it.”

God, how was he so sexy when he was saying such terrible things? And that knowing, naughty look in his eyes…it wasn’t fair.

“This is crazy,” I

said, trying hard not to smile back at him. “I need to get to work and you need to go do whatever it is that you do that may or may not involve getaway cars.”

  4. Lovely review, while I am not a fan of MC books, I have been curious about all these 1001 books. I get confused by them as the covers all match..lol But this is a great way to try new authors.
