Tell Me Something Tuesday is a feature hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings (in case the picture above didn’t tip you off,) and it’s sharing your thoughts on a topic that the blogger has come up with in regards to reading and/or blogging. If this post gets your creative juices flowing, feel free to respond in the comments, or adopt the topic and write about it yourself! This weeks topic is:
Do you find it is easier to read and review books that you have picked up on your own?
As a matter of fact, no. I do not find it easier to read and review books that I have picked up on my own. This is most likely due to a lack of self-discipline. I try to keep to my review schedule for ARCs (though there are weeks where I fail miserably,) but when I’m reading a book for myself, it makes me greedy and all I can think about is moving on to the next one. Especially if I’ve discovered a new series. And then, before I know it, I’m four books down the line, and I feel like I no longer know the book enough to write an informative review. So unless I reread it (which, if my original read was in audio, it probably will happen,) I’m not able to review it with the amount of depth that I’d like to. I have been really laying off the ARCs lately, and I am hoping that will pull from the semi-reading/blogging slump I am in. I’ve discovered a lot of phenomenal authors over the past few years, and I really just want to lose myself in their back lists. And (hopefully) review them!
How about you? If you’re a blogger, do you find it easier to read and review books you pick up on your own?
