The Chateau is book 9 in Tiffany Reisz’s Original Sinners series, and it’s a story that readers are going to love. It delves into fan-favorite Kingsley’s past, and interestingly enough, I think this book could stand on its own. If you’ve read the series up to now, I do think it will mean a bit more to you – because who doesn’t love Kingsley longing for Søren? But if you’re new to Tiffany Reisz and this series, I think you could start here, get a taste for her writing, and see that this series, whenever she decides to pick it up, is in full swing. And fans flock to every offering of Kingsley, Nora, Søren and everyone else the author’s given us throughout this series!
I’ve always been curious about Kingsley’s time in the French Foreign Legion, so I was excited to hear about this story. And while I do wish there had been more to that, I still enjoyed The Chateau. I was surprised (but then again not) about how blasé he was during this time in his life. It was typical Kingsley, but I thought if ever there was a time Kingsley was going to be serious, it would during his time in the military. I always love Kingsley, but this book really highlighted my favorite Kingsley – the masochist. There is something about this man when he’s not in control that is so damn sexy. I think because, in present day books, he radiates power and strength. I love when it’s stripped away.I did love the premise of this series, because putting a challenge in front of Kings is always a good time. I loved everything about how he got to the chateau, and once there, there was, as always, a lot of hot sex. It’s mind boggling to me how this author can take even casual sex and make it so meaningful. But I will say, about 60% into this story, it slowed down for me. Luckily it picked back up at the end, and when Madame enters Kingsley’s life once more, it’s clear he will never be the same.
I really enjoyed this glimpse into Kingsley’s past, and what seemed to an event that left quite an impression on him. The Chateau was very layered and there were some twists that I didn’t see coming. If you’re a fan of The Original Sinners series, you’re going to want to pick this latest installment up!
